Butterfield & Vallis has made computer system maintenance a priority.

Our main computer system resides on an HP 9000 system. The applications are written using an INFORMIX fourth generation development language on top of SQL database technology. This allows for rapid deployment of customization of Butterfield & Vallis’ programmes to meet the ever-changing needs of internal and external customers.

Our systems maintain two full years of history, plus the current year, and by using a query tool we are able to write ad-hoc reports capturing any of this data. To help ensure system availability, all data is “mirrored” to protect against disk failure. A disaster recovery server protects against system failure.

All software and hardware is under contract with local service providers to ensure rapid response in case of system failure. Butterfield & Vallis has always led the industry in accounts, inventory control and management systems and we are constantly upgrading.
